Faith
I finish my tea and set the cup on the table. My father is still on the phone when my ears start ringing. I watch as he sets his cup down on the desk, but only then do I realise that his is still full. My brows pinch - I could have swore that I saw him drink it!
My vision blurs a little and he speaks, his words grow fainter and I clutch the desk. “Dad?” I mumble, my tongue feeling thick in my mouth and my words slur slightly.
The room spins as he hangs up the phone. My father leans back in his chair; my eyes land on him to see the smug smile on his lips.
Confusion twists inside me and my limbs feel heavy. The room darkens slightly and the edges of my vision start to tunnel.
“Beta!” My father shouts.
My ears ring louder, my fingers grip the wooden desk and start slipping off as I fight to remain upright.
“Grab her for me!” I hear as I gasp for a breath.
As I lose my vision, I know I am falling from my seat. Yet, my limbs don’t coope
