Chapter 1

I'm standing in the kitchen, rinsing off the last few dishes, when I spot my brothers walking up to the house. I watch them playfully push each other, and their infectious laughs follow them as they walk through the house and plop down on the couch.

They don't often visit these days, so I'm happy to see them. They live in town as the security detail section of our pack—the warriors. I laugh a little, knowing well how seriously they take their job.

They are part of the guard which is what our pack is known for—the Guardian pack of the Royals. The Lycan Royals, to be specific. The immortal race of ancient beings who rule over us mere werewolves.

You can imagine the attacks and threats they get. Now and then, an Alpha werewolf from one of the lower-ranking packs thinks he's strong enough to take on the Lycan King. They never win, though.
